This is a list of the best movies ever made. They will have a good explanation as to why they might even be the best in their franchise! It may not go as far as into the year we‘re in now but these are the best ones!

Goodfellas (1990)

It’s gonna be a good summer, so go home and get your shinebox! This has to be one of the best movies of the 1990’s by far, telling the true story of how Henry Hill became a gangster through the help of Jimmy Conway. This motion picture perfectly captures the image of how things were during the 50’s and how it went for Tommy Devito (Joe Pesci), Jimmy Conway (Robert De Niro), Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), and Paul Cicero (Paul Sorvino). Definitely a great movie to check out sometime!

Pulp Fiction (1994)

I have to admit that I think has to be #1 in 90’s movies! Pulp Fiction is nothing but a masterpiece of film, this is one of those movies you can just watch again and again and never get tired knowing how much of an impact it’s going to have on you every time you watch it! This movie shows a lot of misfortunes and violence in the way that Tarantino blends it in with the plot, and the plot tends to get confusing when it shows different scenes in different moments but it’s meant to be knowing how many scenes connect to the actual story. This is definitely a must watch!

Swordfish (2001)

You know what the problem with Hollywood is? They make shit, unbelievable, unremarkable shit. Just kidding, I’m not even the one saying that 😂 I know a lot of you may not be familiar with this one but this is one of the best movies that deals with technology when it comes to hacking, coding, and most importantly timing. This is also one of those movies that has a perfect cast lineup with John Travolta, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, and Don Cheadle, and who would’ve thought we were going to have Don Cheadle playing War Machine in the future at the time? No-one. John Travolta plays a dangerous spy who is hired by the CIA to persuade Hugh Jackman to help steal a good amount of money. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, this is one you need to check off your list!

The Departed (2006)

This is another great movie that’s based on the true story of crime boss and FBI informant Whitey Bulger. In the movie, the character is played by Jack Nicholson, but his name in the movie is Frank Costello. This is another with another great cast lineup with Leonardo Dicaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, and Martin Sheen. Leonardo Dicaprio plays a Boston cop who‘s undercover to infiltrate Frank’s organization, while Matt Damon plays a criminal who infiltrates the police department and keeps up with their activity so he can report to Frank. Most cop movies that are filmed in Massachusetts turn out to be the best!

The Dark Knight (2008)

I know we’ve had a lot of actors who’ve taken the role of the caped crusader, but there is no doubt that Christian Bale crushed the role of the Dark Knight! Out of a few other DC movies we got during the 2000’s, the Dark Knight franchise is the best series we got during that decade, and Heath Ledger did such an outstanding job as the Joker and his performance is just so unforgettable! There are a lot of actors who even auditioned for the role of Batman before Christian was cast such as Cillian Murphy who played Scarecrow, Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill and many more which we know wouldn’t have done as amazing as Christian Bale did. The stunt sequences were just phenomenal such as the interrogation, the party, and the hospital explosion were just perfectly measured and fit into the movie! Not only a good one, but the best one to check out!

The Expendables

(2010-2014)

What’s better than watching an action-packed movie full of the old action stars like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, and Jean Claude Van Damme. I’ll tell you, watching all these amazing people come together during this time feels like the best thing you’ll ever see in a movie! Out of the 3 movies, it’s all been the most significant art of acting you could ever see! All these old action stars take their original acting to another level by showing true alter ego when it comes to going against some of the most craziest antiheroes and their armies. After 7 years of waiting, The Expendables 4 has finally started filming but only with Stallone, Lundgren, Statham, and Randy Couture as returning actors, and with new actors 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, and Andy Garcia. They started adding young actors to The Expendables 3 but now that they‘re starting to evolve, it should start getting a lot better and should be making team more badass! You never what’s next to come in a series like this.

Kick Ass (2010 & 2013)

This is another great Superhero movie to check out. This may not be like your average superhero movie like the Avengers or Justice League but this is such a good movie combined with moments of comedy and action which is all about a High Schooler obsessed with superheroes who always wonders why the world doesn’t have any superheroes, but he finally gets the idea of becoming one. Unfortunately, it’s off to a bad start when he gets stabbed on his first day but it gets better when he gets metal plates which makes him more strong and more confident about his work as a friendly neighborhood hero! While on the job, a drug dealing crime boss is out to get rid of Kick-Ass and any other superhero with the help of his son Chris. The other superheroes turn out to be Big-Daddy and Hit Girl, so they all have to work together to put a stop to Frank and his business. They made 2 of these movies and the 2nd one was good but I honestly prefer the first one more.

The Town (2010)

Another movie that was filmed in Boston, and Boston is a town that tends to have a lot of bank robberies. This has to be one of the best crime thriller movies filmed in Boston, and this tells the story of a group robbers and one of them, Doug McCray (Ben Affleck), tends to slow down his actions when he falls for a girl who’s the manager to a bank they robbed in the beginning. Things start getting in the way when the FBI are taking big steps to catch them and the fact that they’ve been interfering with former Irish Mob boss Fergus “Fergie” Colm who knew Doug’s father. Doug’s plan is to make one more robbery and leave Boston for Florida to try and find his long-lost mother but things are starting to bring him down when the FBI finds out who he is and that could start putting more of his people’s lives in danger.

Fast Five (2011)

Out of all the Fast and Furious movies, why is this one the best out of them all? The reason being that this is a movie that finally assembles the whole team together. Shortly after breaking Dominic out of a prison bus, Brian and Mia return to pull one job on a train to steal their cars from the DEA but they get seized on the job and taken to a crazy drug-lord and businessman who wants them all dead. When they manage to escape, Brian, Mia and Don get framed as murderers of the DEA which then brings federal agent Luke Hobbs to their attention. When Hobbs realizes that they’re innocent and Reyes team is planning to kill them, they assemble the Fast team to go up against this business man, and some of them are meeting for the first time. They‘re not only a team of racers but they’re an elite team that have these amazing skills that involve hacking, coding, speed, blending in, and strength.

Whiplash (2014)

For all you jazz players out there or any of you who like that type of music, this is the one for you guys to check out. Whiplash is just a phenomenal film with great acting by JK Simmons and Miles Teller, this is not just one of those movies that either tell the story of an aspiring musician or just some 8-Mile type of story, this is the story of a young drummer Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller) whose goal is to rise to the top of his music class which is lead by his crazy instructor Terence Fletcher (JK Simmons). Through Fletcher’s strict teaching techniques, Neiman works very hard to achieve his goal but he’s letting other things get in the way of his study but he knows that he can’t let himself go like that in front of Fletcher knowing how capable he is of getting kicked out of this conservatory.

Baby Driver (2017)

Have you ever seen a movie that takes almost every aspect of life and puts into one whole film, maybe some, but this movie just explains all the elements of what one person can go through just by being one of the best getaway drivers. Out of all the heist movies that we’ve got through the years, this is the best one out of them all to check out! Ansel Elgort stars as this getaway driver named, Baby, who not only keeps his heist partners out of sight from the police, but perfectly moves along with the timing of the music he’s playing on his iPod that was given to him by his mother. I feel like the directors and the producers used inspiration from a few other heist movies like “Heat“ (1995) and ”Drive” (1995), since all these movies show the main character not only trying to earn money for themselves but also for their love interests. Another movie that was closely related to the sequences was “The Blues Brothers” (1980), Blues Brothers is another classic that’s remembered for all it’s comedy, music, and intense action scenes such as when Jake Elwood are driving through the mall trying to escape the police, the same way as Baby 😂 This in amazing action thriller that does a great job combining music with action and relatable characters.

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

Some of you might either be agreeing or wondering, “Why this one out of the 3 films?” I will admit that the first John Wick was good and I really have to say that 3 wasn’t the best, I just think John Wick 2 had a much better storyline and amazing tactics that John used to get through his mission. Although, this movie starts off with John planning to try and live a calm retired life but his plans get taken away when an Italian gangster shows with an order repay his past favours. He accepts the mission but he has to think closely about what’s next in line for him to come once he accomplishes his mission. In my own opinion, definitely watch them all to understand the true story but I think this one’s the best.
